Sun Day

DSC03061
Each step calculated…
slowly moving forward
after days, weeks, months
of temperatures below normal;
record-breaking layer upon
layer of snow veiling spring.

Down in the kettle, low
to earth, snow dances
in eddies… laughing, toying
with passer-by; who is sunning…
bathing in the warmth created
in the deep hollow of earth.

Woodpecker tapping, tapping,
tapping burrowing in deep.
Mourning doves gathered
on brittle branches hovering
in this blessed hot spot dream,
as we all do, for a time

without chill to the bone
weather. Yet, my eyes squint
as sunlight streams across
virgin snow. Each particle
in twizzle, spiraling, dazzling…
thank God for sunny subzero days!

Yes, my humble steps
move forward past
seconds, minute, days;
when life isn’t normal.
Things pile up layer upon
layer veiling God’s grace.

“Grace and peace be yours in
abundance through the knowledge
of God and of Jesus our Lord.”
2 Peter 1:2

Twizzle is the new term for an ice skating spin at the Sochi Olympics! Liking up with dVerse later today.

  1. “Each particle
    in twizzle, spiraling, dazzling…
thank God for sunny subzero days.” I loved this poem… and I picked up on the “twizzle” reference immediately… well done. I too am grateful for the sun.

  2. Ok, but that last stanza is my life! …just love this end as well “Things pile up layer upon
layer veiling God’s grace.” And I had no idea , as I have been a bad AMerican, not watching the Olympics. Bad, Bad. Oh well…Twizzle, huh? OK.

  3. ha. i had not heard twizzle yet…guess i am not watching enough olympics….smiles…fun piece….enjoying a bit of sun out the window today…supposed to get 6-12 inches tomorrow…hoping to sled a bit if i can shake the flu….
