it’s been years since I
walked these dusty streets;
past empty windows
filled with memories
i hear the voices,
laughter and songs;
passing people plot
their way in this place
not today, today…
just tapping, tapping;
my heavy boots on
history’s wooden planks
not tell another
word as i pass by…

history’s wooden planks … I adored this image as well! Very nice.
This furnished a lot of echoes for me. Wonderful reonance.
my heavy boots on
history’s wooden planks
I love the thoughts of walking the planks of history ;D
Fun to read~
Great imagery and the “sounds” of the poem reverberated in my mind. Thanks for sharing.
I like this very much. It speaks so much of history and time, so succinctly.
So much nostalgia, and the picture lends a sepia-scent to the words… I enjoyed this walk you took us on!
The memories together with the boots tapping are a beautiful chorus.
I love the way this poem turns on the word today, and the image of tapping one’s way along the planks of history is very good indeed. Beginning and ending with the couplets and dividing the remaining lines makes for a very interesting 14 line format.
I like the walking and tapping on history’s wooden planks….they have stories to tell ~
Ah – you short lines have the pace of footsteps here. k.
